Dear friends,
I am thrilled to announce that I will be resuming my Afro-Brazilian dance classes, now with live percussion by the acclaimed Walter Maclean!
Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings starting August 6, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Casa de Bamba / Capoeira Bamba Toronto, located at 949 St. Clair West, at the corner of St. Clair West and Oakwood St. Each class is $20.
We welcome new participants as well as all those who have joined us over the years. Come and dance with us!
Class Description
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, my classes offer a welcoming environment for all skill levels. Each session is an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Afro-Brazilian dance, improve your technique, and experience the joy of movement.
About Newton Moraes
I am a distinguished dance educator with over 20 years of experience in the field. Renowned for my dynamic and engaging teaching style, I have inspired countless students to explore and express their creativity through dance.
I began my teaching career at prominent dance institutions across Brazil before moving to Canada, where I continued to share my expertise. I have taught at various esteemed schools, including the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, York University, and Ryerson University. My classes, which range from contemporary dance to Afro-Brazilian techniques, are known for their rigorous training, innovative choreography, and cultural richness.
In addition to my work in academic settings, I have conducted numerous workshops and masterclasses worldwide, in countries such as Germany, the United States, and Colombia. My international experience and deep understanding of diverse dance traditions have enriched my teaching practice, making my classes a unique blend of technical proficiency and artistic expression.
My commitment to dance education extends beyond the studio. I have also been involved in several community outreach programs, using dance as a tool to empower and uplift underserved communities. My dedication to fostering a love for dance in students of all backgrounds and abilities underscores my belief in the transformative power of the arts.
As a mentor, I am celebrated for my ability to nurture and develop the potential of each student, encouraging them to find their own voice in the world of dance. My passion, expertise, and unwavering support have made me a beloved and influential figure in the dance education community.
